Job summary

Hines is seeking a Senior Project Accountant for Property and Development Accounting - Industrial in Chicago. You will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for a specific project, coordinating with controllers, project managers, and accountants to manage draws, AR, cash flows and journal entries.

The role involves month-end closes, reconciliations, budget alignment, and preparation of financial statements and tax workpapers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• CPA designation or pursuit preferred.
• 3+ years in public accounting or 4+ years professional accounting experience.
• 3+ years of management experience required.
• Commercial real estate experience preferred.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with Oracle and JD Edwards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting information for project reporting.
• Prepare funding requests to investors and lenders.
• Handle treasury functions including wire payments.
• Review AR aging and assess collectability; recommend write-offs.
• Assist Property Management with A/R analysis.
• Record journal entries and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Maintain reporting and draw calendars for property/project.
• Perform month-end close and reconciliations for complex areas.
• Process recurring and one-off revenue billings and record cash receipts.
• Review information from third parties and internal groups for accuracy.
• General ledger review and analysis.
• Prepare management and construction fees invoices and records.
• Maintain fixed assets and depreciation."
• Prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements and schedules with PM.
• Prepare lender reserve/escrow/draw requests.
• Research accounting guidance and draft position memos.
• Support internal controls and training for junior staff.
• Assist with annual budgets and variance analysis.
