Job summary

HRP Group is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to oversee financial management across development and redevelopment projects in Chicago. You will ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, manage journal entries, and support audits and lender reporting.

Collaborating with Development, Asset Management, Property Management, and Operations teams, you will monitor budgets, capital expenditures, and project cash flow while strengthening internal controls and process improvements to support growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently on complex accounting tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Record and manage journal entries including depreciation and development activity.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and close processes.
• Assist with audits, tax reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Prepare lender draw packages and recurring reporting for financing partners.
• Lead development and redevelopment project accounting.
• Monitor budgets, costs, CIP activity, and project financial performance.
• Strengthen internal controls and promote accounting best practices.
