Job summary

Hardesty & Hanover in New York City seeks a Senior Project Accountant to oversee all phases of the project life cycle within the Accounting team. You will collaborate with Project Managers on project setup, assist with cost proposals, and support contract closeouts while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Three to six years of project accounting or billing experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers to establish project budgets based on contractual provisions.
• Participate in project meetings and provide updates on project financials.
• Communicate project issues to accounting and non-accounting staff.
• Advise on project financial status, contract modifications, and client invoicing requirements.
• Mentor junior Project Accounting staff and assist training of clients or subconsultants.
• Lead initiatives to automate high-volume tasks.
• Post transaction entries to maintain AR/AP records.
• Prepare invoice submissions for government and private clients with documentation.
• Monitor budgets and update changes in Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Manage project accounting and billing for branch offices.
• Respond to client requests for financial information.
• Review unbilled costs and unpaid invoices monthly to optimize billing.
• Review subconsultant invoicing for compliance.
• Support year-end audits with schedules and documentation.
