Job summary

LHH in Nashville is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join its growing construction accounting team in a newly created role. This on-site position offers occasional remote flexibility as needed to support project milestones.

You will oversee financials for assigned construction projects, manage WIP and job costing, support month-end close, and collaborate with Project Managers to ensure accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Construction/project accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of WIP accounting and job costing.
• Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting.
• Ability to work directly with Project Managers and communicate financial information effectively.
• Experience training, mentoring, or reviewing the work of accounting staff.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
• Comfortable working in a growing environment with evolving processes and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial aspects of assigned construction projects from project setup through completion.
• Prepare, analyze, and maintain WIP schedules, including reviewing job costs, revenue recognition, project forecasts, and variances.
• Partner closely with Project Managers to monitor project financial performance, identify issues, and provide accounting guidance.
• Participate in the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and project-related reporting.
• Train and onboard new Project Accountants and provide ongoing guidance on project accounting processes and best practices.
• Review and manage the overall quality and outcomes of work completed by Project Accountants.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex project accounting issues, researching discrepancies and driving problems through resolution.
• Develop and implement new accounting processes and procedures related to a recent acquisition.
• Identify opportunities to improve project accounting workflows, controls, reporting, and overall efficiency.
• Collaborate across accounting, operations, and project management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Assist with higher-level accounting projects and process improvement initiatives as the company continues to grow.
