Job summary

RJN Group is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join our employee-owned engineering and field services firm. The role focuses on timely and accurate project billings, supporting project managers, and improving accounting processes.

You will handle client billings, project setups, and monitor project performance through proactive communication with PMs and the accounting team. This position offers meaningful visibility to leadership, ownership culture, and opportunities to influence

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of accounting/finance experience or 3+ years public accounting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• Detail oriented with customer focus.
• Strong problem solving and deadlines awareness.
• Collaborative across all levels and vendors/customers.
• Strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with PMs and project owners on contracts, changes, and services.
• Prepare and deliver project invoices with backups and approvals.
• Research unbilled issues to optimize billing.
• Maintain billing folders with documents per procedures.
• Advise AP on project coding for invoicing and reimbursements.
• Generate monthly project profitability reports.
• Set up new projects and transfer billable hours/expenses.
• Follow up on past due receivables with PMs and clients.
• Assist with year-end auditor support.
• Support ad hoc analyses and assignments.
