Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to lead monthly project billing activities, track budgets, and oversee cost management across projects in the United States. You will collaborate with project leadership and cross-functional teams to monitor financial performance and inform decision-making.

The role requires 5+ years in project accounting within construction, engineering, infrastructure, or professional services, with strong knowledge of costing, budgeting, and revenue

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of project accounting or similar experience.
• Experience with large-scale projects in construction, engineering, infrastructure, or professional services preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, project costing, budgeting, and revenue recognition.
• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and confidentiality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; cross-team collaboration.
• Excel and other business software proficiency.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly project billing activity in accordance with contract terms and project requirements.
• Track project budgets, commitments, and costs while processing vendor and subcontractor invoices and assisting with customer invoicing.
• Work closely with project leadership and cross-functional teams to monitor project financial performance and support decision-making.
• Participate in project review meetings and provide financial insights on project status and progress.
• Develop monthly financial forecasts, estimates, and reporting packages, identifying potential financial risks and opportunities.
• Perform ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as needed to support business objectives.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior accounting team members.

Senior Project Accounting Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of accounting principles, project costing, budgeting, and revenue recognition.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and mentor junior staff.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record of resolving complex financial issues.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software applications.
