Job summary

CFS in San Antonio is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join a hands-on, in-office finance team. You will own project accounting from cradle to close, including job costing, budgets, and reporting to senior leadership.

You will collaborate across project finance systems, ensure accurate invoicing and contract records, and deliver weekly cost and funding reports to executives. CPA/CCIFP preferred; 4+ years of full-cycle accounting in construction or project-based environments.

• Ability to present financial information clearly to senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Enter project from cradle to close out, including job costing, job set-up, consultant budgets, expense budgets, and labor tracking experience.
• Help establish updated financial tracking and reporting for a complex project.
• Present project financial information to senior leaders.
• Maintain accurate invoice and contract records across project finance systems.
• Code and track project spend to support reliable budget-to-actual reporting.
• Prepare weekly financial reports on project costs and available funding.
• Coordinate project financial information with accounting and insurance stakeholders.

Qualifications For The Senior Project Accountant

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• Certification (Preferred) Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent preferred or Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP)
• Experience: 4+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
• Financial Reporting and Presentation: must be comfortable and confident presenting financial reports and project updates to executive leadership
