Job summary

Leoforce seeks a Senior Project Accountant in Saint Paul, MN to lead project accounting from startup to closeout. You will monitor budgets, costs, and forecasts, review subcontractor invoices, and support cash collections.

This role requires 5+ years in accounting, preferably in construction, and proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel. You will collaborate with project teams and leadership to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and company procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting, preferably in construction.
• Strong construction job costing and forecasting knowledge.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, Sage, or similar ERP.
• Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting practices.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities related to assigned projects.
• Track contract changes, change orders, retainage, and contingency usage.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, company policies, and accounting procedures.
• Support audit requests and assist with preparation of financial documentation.
• Collaborate with operations, project management, payroll, and executive leadership teams to provide timely financial reporting and analysis.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting best practices
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation or progress toward certification is a plus
• Experience with multi-state construction operations and compliance reporting
• Familiarity with union payroll, retainage tracking, and contract administration
• Prior experience working for a general contractor or specialty contractor preferred
