Job description

ttg Talent Solutions is recruiting a Senior Project Accountant for a confidential client with project-based operations. The position blends financial planning and analysis (FP&A), project accounting, and operational finance, with direct involvement in project decisions.

Position Summary

Take financial ownership of multiple projects, working with project managers, operations, purchasing, and finance leadership from initial planning through completion. Turn operational information into reliable forecasts, manage costs and cash collection, and address emerging risks.

Experienced FP&A, senior financial analysis, project finance, operational finance, and project accounting professionals are welcome. A traditional accounting career path is not required; construction accounting experience is preferred rather than mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and update budgets and cost-to-complete forecasts with project managers; explain variances, flag potential overruns, and recommend responses.
  • Track project costs and work-in-progress (WIP), lead weekly financial discussions with project teams, and prepare monthly performance reviews for finance leadership.
Project Commitments, Cost Control, and Payables
  • Manage project commitments through preparation and execution with the Controller and project teams; check budget coverage, assign cost codes, and raise exceptions.
  • Approve supplier invoices and subcontractor payment requests after reviewing budgets and contract terms; maintain payable approvals and month-end cutoffs.
  • Track scope reductions, back-charges, and credits associated with project insurance programs.
Vendor Records and Compliance
  • Track insurance coverage, lien waivers and releases, owner notices, sworn statements, and other required vendor and subcontractor documentation.
  • Keep vendor and subcontractor records accurate and improve how compliance information is collected and monitored.
Progress Billing and Cash Collection
  • Establish, negotiate, and update schedules of values (SOVs); produce monthly progress invoices for general contractors that meet project contract requirements.
  • Reconcile project costs to amounts billed and work with project managers to correct billing shortfalls or excess billings before submission.
  • Review receivables, collection activity, billing deadlines, and retainage; pursue timely recovery and bring unresolved payment issues to leadership.
Expense Documentation and Oversight
  • Ensure overhead and credit card charges have supporting receipts, resolve missing documentation with department leads, and report unusual or high-risk spending to the Controller.
Team Support and Process Improvement
  • Work with accounting and payables colleagues, provide guidance on project finance questions, and coach junior staff when appropriate.
  • Improve reporting, workflows, and financial controls; contribute to departmental initiatives, month-end close, audit schedules, and year-end auditor requests.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: At least five years in FP&A, financial analysis, operational finance, project finance, project accounting, or a combination of these disciplines.
  • Finance Skills: Demonstrated capability in budgeting, forecasting, modeling, variance analysis, and managing costs.
  • Business Partnership: Ability to connect operating activity with financial results, communicate across finance and operations, and question assumptions constructively.
  • Execution: Experience balancing several projects and deadlines independently, with reliable follow-through.
  • Work Arrangement: Availability to work entirely on-site in Miami, FL.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant Environments: Experience in construction, contracting, or another project-based or operational business.
  • Project Finance: Exposure to WIP, job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, SOVs, progress invoicing, project payables and receivables, or retainage.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with lien-related requirements, subcontractor documentation, or project insurance programs such as OCIP/CCIP.
  • Systems: Experience using construction or project-based accounting platforms.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; CPA credentials or progress toward qualification are also welcome, but not required.
  • Team Development: Experience coaching or overseeing accounting team member
Core Competencies
  • Curiosity about operations and a practical approach to solving business problems.
  • Sound financial judgment, analytical rigor, and careful attention to details.
  • Clear communication and the ability to earn trust across functions.
