Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Project Accountant in Irvine, CA to own job cost accounting and billing for assigned projects, collaborating with project managers and the field team to reflect the work in your numbers.

The role requires at least 3 years in construction accounting, experience with AIA billing, and strong Excel skills along with Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or Procore. This is a permanent, on-site position.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in construction.
• Experience with job cost accounting, progress billing, and AIA billing formats.
• Working knowledge of work in progress schedules and revenue recognition.
• Experience managing subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and retention.
• Strong Excel skills and construction accounting software experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain job budgets, cost codes, and contract records in the accounting system.
• Prepare monthly progress billings, AIA applications for payment, and supporting lien waivers.
• Track and post job costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor invoices.
• Prepare and review the work in progress schedule, including revenue recognition and over and under billings.
• Process subcontractor pay applications, verify insurance and compliance documents, and manage retention.
• Prepare job cost reports and analyze budget to actual variances with project managers.
• Process and track change orders, contract modifications, and their effect on job forecasts.
• Support project closeout including final billing, retention release, and cost reconciliation.
• Assist with month-end close entries, account reconciliations, and audit requests.
