Job summary

Andrews & Cole, LLC in Herndon, VA is seeking a Manager of Project Accounting to develop and lead a team of 3, work with leadership, and influence project financial decisions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely processing of transactions.

• Oversee job costing, project billing, financial reporting, and cost analysis for large, complex construction projects.

• Partner directly with Project Managers and Operations to review project financials, resolve issues, and support decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Accountants.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely processing of transactions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Strong construction project accounting experience, including job costing, billing, financial analysis, and project closeout.
• Experience supporting large construction projects, preferably valued at $20M or more.
• Demonstrated experience managing and developing accounting professionals, ideally teams of three or more.
• Experience working directly with Project Managers and construction operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Strong Excel skills; COINS ERP experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication, analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on management style with the ability to balance project accounting responsibilities and team development.
