Qualifications

• Experience with General Contractors or Specialty Contractors preferred.
• Strong understanding of project financials, budgets, forecasting, billing, change orders.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities and financial transactions across multiple construction projects.
• Manage project financials: budgets, forecasts, costs, billings, and financial reporting.
• Review and process change orders (approved, unpriced, unapproved).
• Prepare lien releases and related project documentation.
• Reconcile accounts payable and receivable; maintain project budgets and forecasts.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close; prepare financial statements.

Tiello is partnered with a highly regarded General Contractor in their search for a Senior Project Accountant to join and grow with their team in Boston, MA. This is a hybrid opportunity with a well-established construction team and offers the opportunity to take on a key role supporting project accounting and financial operations.

Role Summary:

The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for managing project accounting activities, financial reporting, forecasting, and accounting transactions throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have strong construction accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with project management and internal teams. Management or supervisory experience is preferred.

• Job Responsibilities:Manage accounting activities and financial transactions across multiple construction projects.
• Manage project financials, including budgets, forecasts, costs, billings, and financial reporting.
• Review and process change orders, including approved, unpriced, and unapproved change orders.
• Prepare and manage lien releases and related project documentation.
• Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and maintain project budgets and financial forecasts.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
• Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and other project-related financial transactions.
• Assist with payroll, taxes, and other accounting-related activities as needed.
• Audit financial transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain accurate and organized project financial records and documentation.
• Work closely with Project Managers and internal teams to monitor project financial performance.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Provide guidance and support to accounting team members and assist with team management and supervision as needed.
• Qualifications/Requirements:3-5+ years of experience in construction accounting, project accounting, or a related accounting role within the construction industry.
• Experience working for a General Contractor or Specialty Contractor preferred.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting procedures, project financials, budgets, forecasting, billing, and change orders.
• Experience with lien releases, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes, and payroll.
• Experience with either Procore or Sage 300 is required. Experience with both is highly preferred.
• Previous management or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
