Job summary

H2O Innovation, based in Ramsey, MN, seeks a Senior programmer, automation and controls to join our team for a permanent full-time position. You will contribute to exciting water-treatment projects and help advance our smart solutions.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in automation and controls, strong PLC/ST programming skills, and experience in designing robust HMI interfaces. Hybrid work arrangements and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a similar automation/controls role.
• Proficiency in PLC programming software.
• Experience programming using Structured Text (ST).
• Ability to write clear technical documents.
• Designing user-friendly HMI interfaces.
• Diagnose and resolve automation problems.
• Knowledge of hardware/software upgrade methods for automated systems.
• Strong English communication skills (oral and written).
• Plan and execute comprehensive system tests.

Responsibilities

• Program PLCs and HMIs (HMI).
• Design control system logic using Structured Text (ST).
• Analyze user needs and develop programming plans.
• Create automated system designs via drawings and schematics.
• Test, deploy, and support programmed installations at client sites.
• Create user guides, technical manuals, and other tools.
• Perform upgrades and troubleshoot automated systems as needed.

The Day-to-Day

• Program PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and user graphic interfaces (HMI);
• Design and develop control system logic using Structured Text (ST);
• Participate in analyzing user needs and developing programming plans;
• Design automated systems through technical drawings and schematics;
• Conduct testing and market deployment of programmed installations at our clients' sites;
• Assist our clients by creating user guides, technical manuals, and other tools to facilitate the understanding of automated systems;
• Perform upgrades and troubleshoot automated systems as needed.

The Skills We Are Looking For

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role;
• Proficiency in PLC programming software;
• Experience developing, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC programs using Structured Text (ST);
• Ability to write clear technical documents;
• Skill in designing user-friendly graphic interfaces;
• The ability to diagnose and resolve problems;
• Thorough understanding of hardware and software upgrade methods for automated systems;
• Communication skills;
• Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing;
• Competence in planning and executing comprehensive system tests.
