Job description

Contract: 1 Year

Hybrid: 1 week onsite / 1 week off-site

Responsibilities:

• Cognos 11 reporting, Cognos Transformer Cube, Power BI, and advanced SQL writing abilities.
• Migrating reports from IBM Cognos to Microsoft Power BI.
• Understanding the existing Cognos reports, converting them to Power BI.
• Ensure new reports meet the business requirements and performance standards.

Report Conversion:

• Convert existing Cognos reports to Power BI, ensuring that the new reports match the look, feel, and functionality of the original reports.
• Implement data-level security mechanisms in Power BI reports, if defined in the Cognos reports.

Data Integration:

• Ensure seamless integration with existing data sources, including databases and data warehouses.
• Enable real-time data access and updates in Power BI, similar to the current Cognos setup.

Performance and Scalability:

• Optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for performance, with fast load times and responsiveness.
• Design the Power BI environment to be scalable, accommodating future growth and increased data volumes.

User Access and Permissions:

• Implement role-based access controls in Power BI, mirroring the current user permissions in Cognos.
• Ensure secure user authentication and authorization mechanisms are in place.

Testing and Validation:

• Conduct thorough testing of all migrated reports, cubes, and models to ensure accuracy and performance.
• Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that the migrated reports meet business requirements.

Documentation and Training:

• Provide user manuals, technical guides, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Conduct training sessions for the team on the new Power BI reports and functionalities.
