Description
The Advanced Analytics Cognos Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, developer support, and on-call support of the reporting and analytical solutions for the business community. The Cognos Administrator supports and upgrades environments to Cognos v11 and engages with internal customers (reporting developers) to propose solutions and validate that these solutions meet business needs. The role requires strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The team member will work with all aspects of Cognos in a data warehouse and operational data store environment, interacting with business units and enabling groups.
Responsibilities
- Administrate BI applications and provide a stable production environment that meets performance needs; make adjustments as required.
- Resolve production issues in a timely manner, including on-call support, while maintaining audit and security standards.
- Plan and manage BI system implementations and upgrades, license management, security, and future/product evaluations for BI applications as needed.
- Maintain and monitor all BI environments (development, test, production, disaster recovery).
- Cross-train and coordinate with team members to provide seamless, consistent system support.
- Develop, coordinate, and provide ongoing training, including functional and technical direction to super-users (content developers).
- Research functionality and technical configuration within supported BI systems and prepare recommendations for system improvements.
- Provide management with regular status reports and benchmarking metrics for projects, issues, system implementations, and upgrades.
- Create documentation for project status reports, timelines, issues, risks, change requests, requirements, design, testing plans, and test cases.
- Define and document best practices, standards, processes, and guidelines for BI tool administration.
- Interact with IT local landscape teams, Enterprise Data Warehouse teams, project managers, team leads, technical leads, and vendor representatives to identify and resolve issues.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and design analyses to improve business performance.
Qualifications & Skills
- 5-7 years designing, developing, and administering Business Intelligence applications; experience with maintenance and support, performance monitoring and tuning, upgrades, software configuration, business continuity, and disaster recovery; familiar with Change Management, Configuration Management, Problem Resolution, and Incident Tracking.
- Cognos R11 upgrade experience required.
- Power BI administration and development experience is a plus.
- Remote location with Atlanta or Fort Worth preferred.
