Job summary

Moog Space and Defense – Power and Data Division is seeking a Program Management Director to lead the program management function across three business units in the Blacksburg, VA area. This onsite role requires guiding strategy, establishing baselines, and driving performance against cost, schedule, and margin targets.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in business/engineering/science (MBA preferred), 10+ years of PM leadership, and PMP certification or equivalent, with success

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or Science (MBA preferred).
• At least 10 years of program management experience with demonstrated leadership capability.
• Proven ability to develop functional strategies, establish best practices, and implement large-scale processes.
• Experience leading in a matrixed organization with strong collaboration and influence skills.
• PMP certification or equivalent and demonstrated competency with recognized industry standards for managing government and commercial contract types.
• Demonstrated success managing customers at the executive level.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, and oversee the implementation of functional strategies and objectives for program management across the Power and Data Division.
• Lead the program management function for multiple Power and Data Division businesses, including direct leadership of program management personnel.
• Establish program baselines that ensure execution meets or exceeds proposal margin targets.
• Identify, develop, and implement improved program management processes, tools, and best practices to support each Business Unit.
• Build and mentor senior program management leadership, ensuring required competencies and behaviors are fully embedded.
• Create performance metrics, dashboards, and management tools to monitor ongoing program management effectiveness.
• Review underperforming programs, partner with program leadership on mitigation plans, and oversee recovery execution.
• Position program management as a growth enabler for revenue and operating profit.
