Job summary

The Dixon Group in West Chester, OH is seeking a Senior Production Test Technician to maintain test equipment, diagnose failures on manufacturing lines, and perform board-level repairs on non-conforming electronics assemblies.

This hands-on role serves as the primary technical support for production test cells, ensuring minimal downtime and driving improvements in test reliability, documentation, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent practical experience in electronics.
• 3–5+ years hands-on electronics troubleshooting and test fixture maintenance.
• Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, DMMs).
• Experience with manual soldering and precise SMD rework.
• Strong root-cause analysis and independent issue resolution.
• Good computer skills, LabVIEW familiarity, and Git/GitHub workflows.
• Basic Python reading ability and familiarity with test fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary responder to production line test failures and diagnose root causes.
• Access LabVIEW controls, adjust testing thresholds, and procure/replace components.
• Maintain and configure PCs for test stations and deploy tools from GitHub.
• Add new product configurations to barcode-driven interfaces as variants release.
• Develop and document PM schedules to minimize downtime in test cells.
• Write and update assembly instructions and SOPs for floor personnel.

The Dixon Group is looking for a Senior Production Test Technician to join our team! The Senior Production Test Technician is responsible for maintaining the operational reliability of production test equipment, diagnosing electrical failures on manufacturing lines, and performing board‑level repairs on non‑conforming electronic assemblies. This hands‑on role serves as the primary technical support for production test cells, ensuring minimal downtime and driving continuous improvement in test reliability, documentation, and preventive maintenance.

What You'll Do:

• Serve as the primary responder to production line test failures, determining whether failures stem from the unit under test (UUT) or the test fixture.
• Access LabVIEW administrative controls to evaluate and adjust testing thresholds. Diagnose hardware issues on automated test equipment, procure/build replacement components, and swap parts to restore functionality.
• Maintain PC environments across primary test stations, configure new PCs, and deploy internal tools directly from GitHub repositories.
• Add new product configurations to the barcode‑driven programming interface as new product variants are released.
• Add new jobs and revise existing laser marking jobs on the laser‑marking system. Design and build work‑holding and fixturing as needed.
• Fabricate, Solder, repair, and stock replacement test leads and wiring harnesses for test fixtures to ensure high reliability and uptime.
• Evaluate non‑conforming production units using schematics, digital multimeters (DMMs), and oscilloscopes to isolate circuit‑level defects.
• Execute precision soldering and Surface Mount Device (SMD) rework on economically viable assemblies to restore them to full working order.
• Accurately log all root cause findings and component failure modes into the production defect database. Maintain ongoing reporting with vendors to minimize manufacturing defects.
• Develop, execute, and document a structured PM schedule across production test cells to prevent unscheduled downtime.
• Write, update, and standardize detailed assembly instructions and SOPs for production floor personnel.

What We're Looking For:

• Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET), equivalent technical military training, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5+ years of hands‑on electronics troubleshooting and test fixture maintenance experience.
• High proficiency in reading schematic diagrams and utilizing electronic diagnostic tools, including oscilloscopes and DMMs.
• Proven experience in manual soldering and a high comfort level performing precision SMD rework.
• Exceptional ability to break down complex problems and determine root causes through a self‑guided process of elimination. Must be able to resolve production issues independently or clearly communicate the root issue to engineering teams.
• Strong general computer literacy (navigating network folders, file management, text file modification). Experience navigating LabVIEW runtime interfaces and administrative setup panels.
• Basic hand tool proficiency for test fixture construction, repair, and modification.
• Prior experience in a low‑to‑medium volume electronics production environment is preferred.
• Basic ability to read and understand Python is preferred.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub deployment environments is highly preferable.
