Job summary

Blue Origin, based in Florida, seeks an experienced systems/structural engineer to support GS2 tanks on the production floor. You will own MRB dispositions, drive root-cause analysis, and coordinate design changes with engineers and production teams to ensure safety and quality in flight hardware.

The role requires leading cross-functional teams, mentoring junior engineers, and maintaining readiness for tests and reviews, including off-hours as needed.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in production, test, or sustaining engineering for aerospace structures, launch vehicles, or aircraft.
  • Hands-on experience supporting hardware on a production floor with technicians, quality, and manufacturing engineering.
  • Knowledge of metallic and composite structural design and fabrication processes.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, 3D models (Creo/Windchill), and work instructions.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and failure modes for metallic/composite structures.
  • Ability to disposition nonconformances and repairs in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary engineering liaison for GS2 tanks and structural hardware on the production floor.
  • Own MRB disposition of nonconformances, concessions, and repair plans for GS2 tanks and structures.
  • Lead triage, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for build issues, escapes, and test anomalies.
  • Support daily production operations: respond to line stop issues, triage defects, review test data, and clear blockers.
  • Coordinate with design owners to implement ECRs/ECOs and provide feedback to drawings and specs.
  • Analyze production defects and test escapes to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with tooling, manufacturing engineering, and quality to develop tooling and inspection methods.
  • Contribute to design-for-manufacture and design-for-test feedback for GS2 Tanks iterations.
  • Support readiness reviews, RCCAs, and anomaly boards with clear technical content.
  • Prepare and maintain risk assessments, production readiness reviews, and build/test redlines.
  • Maintain status of production risks, mitigations, and process improvements.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
