Job summary

BPX Energy is seeking aSenior Production Systems Engineer to join our US onshore team and deliver data-driven solutions that optimize production and workflows. You will work with engineers, optimizers, and field operators to translate challenges into software solutions and process improvements.

The role requires 8+ years in oil and gas, strong Python/SQL skills, cloud experience (AWS/Azure), and familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and Dagster.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably Petroleum Engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, especially for data-intensive applications.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
• Competency with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Dagster+ preferred.
• Experience developing in Palantir a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• A passion for problem-solving and a strong analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Operations, Optimization, Interventions, and other teams to identify opportunities for improvement and develop innovative data-driven solutions.
• Design, develop, and deploy robust applications using Python, SQL, and Snowflake within the AWS cloud environment.
• Champion best practices for software development including CI/CD and code reviews.
• Collaborate with Technology and Production as a product owner for in-house solutions.
• Develop and maintain enterprise-level systems and standards to drive efficiency.
• Create reporting tools and dashboards using Power BI, Streamlit, or Python web frameworks.
