Job summary

Gen-Systems Power Solutions in Houston, TX is hiring a Senior Production & Capacity Planner to own master production scheduling, capacity planning, and labor forecasting. You will coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Warehouse, Production, Quality, and leadership to align resources with demand and strategic objectives.

You will drive continuous improvement, ERP utilization, and operational analytics while leading planning initiatives and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • 7+ years of manufacturing planning, master scheduling, or production planning experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Experience with capacity planning, labor analysis, and production forecasting.
  • Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule to support customer demand and production priorities.
  • Coordinate production schedules with Engineering, Procurement, Warehouse, and Operations to ensure material and resource availability.
  • Balance production workloads to maximize efficiency while meeting delivery commitments.
  • Develop and maintain labor, equipment, and facility capacity models to support production demand.
  • Analyze production capacity and recommend staffing, overtime, and shift changes.
  • Monitor manufacturing constraints and implement strategies to improve throughput and resource utilization.
  • Maintain production forecasts received from Headquarters and evaluate their impact on manufacturing operations.
  • Develop short- and long-term production plans based on forecasted demand.
  • Communicate forecast changes and production risks to leadership.
  • Prepare and distribute production work order packages and manufacturing documentation.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for production planning and scheduling.
  • Lead initiatives to improve planning accuracy, scheduling efficiency, and production processes.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects across Operations.
  • Serve as the primary planning liaison between Headquarters, Production, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Warehouse.

Position Overview

The Senior Production & Capacity Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining the company's master production schedule, capacity planning model, production forecasts, labor planning, and production control processes.

This position serves as the central point of coordination between Sales, Engineering, Procurement, Warehouse, Production, Quality, and Executive Leadership to ensure manufacturing resources are aligned with customer demand and strategic business objectives.

The position owns the production planning process from demand forecasting through work order release while driving continuous improvement, ERP utilization, production reporting, and operational analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Visio.
  • Experience developing SOPs and standardized planning processes.
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
  • Oil & Gas or heavy manufacturing experience.
