Job summary

Johnson Controls Silent-Aire division in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Planner to develop and maintain the plant's integrated production plan, balancing demand, capacity, materials, and constraints to ensure on-time delivery and stable schedules.

You will partner with Operations, Materials, Engineering, and Account Leads to drive performance in safety, quality and efficiency, lead planning reviews, manage MRP, BOMs, routings, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of production planning experience in industrial or complex manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of MRP, capacity planning, and shop floor control.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (SAGE preferred but could including SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering BOMs, routings, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving (including 8D, 5-Why and A3 problem solving methodology), and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Master Production Schedule —build, maintain, and communicate a forward‑looking plan that aligns demand, capacity, and material availability.
  • Analyze demand signals (forecasts, firm POs, backlog) and translate them into executable production requirements.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional planning inputs including engineering releases, material readiness, labor availability, and equipment constraints.
  • Monitor and adjust the schedule based on real‑time plant conditions, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum stability.
  • Lead daily/weekly planning reviews with Operations, Materials, and leadership to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Identify bottlenecks and capacity gaps; recommend solutions such as overtime, alternate routings, outsourcing, or load leveling.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters (lead times, lot sizes, cycle times, routings) in the ERP system.
  • Drive schedule adherence by tracking performance, analyzing misses, and leading corrective actions.
  • Support S&OP processes with accurate data, capacity models, and scenario planning.
  • Collaborate with Materials Management to ensure material availability aligns with planned production.
  • Communicate schedule changes clearly and proactively to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and predictability.
  • Champion continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, and data accuracy.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and First-of-Kind (FOK) builds including new launches & major product changes through Management-of-Change (MOC).

What you will do

The Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the plant’s integrated production plan to ensure on‑time delivery, optimized capacity utilization, and alignment with customer demand. This role will work closely with organizational S&OP team to ensure serving as the central planning authority—balancing materials, labor, equipment, and constraints to create a realistic, efficient, and stable production schedule.

The Planner partners closely with Operations, Materials, Engineering, and Account Leads to drive predictable performance and support organizational goals in safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000-$117,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
