Job summary

State Street is seeking a Senior Business Product Owner for the Insurance Accounting product within our Fund Accounting and Administration platform. This role represents accounting, regulatory, and client needs, focusing on business requirements and outcomes rather than technical design.

You will drive strategy, prioritize features, and partner with technology and operations to ensure compliant, fit-for-purpose solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is preferred; CPA/CFA or equivalent product experience is a plus.
• 12+ years of experience as a business Product Owner, product leader, or senior end user in insurance, fund accounting, or financial software.
• Experience leading complex product initiatives across cross-functional teams.
• Strong experience with insurance accounting and/or investment accounting, including complex asset classes.
• Knowledge of inbound/outbound data flows across the investment lifecycle (trade processing, cash, market data).
• Experience leading in an agile software development environment as a business Product Owner or senior business analyst.
• Significant experience working directly with clients and stakeholders.
• Experience with AI tools and applying them to improve product development and day-to-day processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary business authority for insurance accounting functionality and related reporting.
• Communicate product direction and measurable business outcomes for assigned capabilities.
• Lead complex product initiatives spanning multiple processes, client segments, or teams.
• Engage clients and internal stakeholders to understand needs, priorities, and impacts.
• Lead business analysis and functional design; create clear business design documents and requirements.
• Define accounting ledger entries and reporting outcomes for enhancements.
• Ensure alignment with regulatory and client requirements for reporting solutions.
• Translate requirements into epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Provide business use cases and functional testing scenarios.
• Oversee testing strategy and validate accounting accuracy and controls.
• Partner with product management, development, operations, client service to manage dependencies.
• Assist with roadmaps and modernization direction.
• Oversee delivery of enhancements via iterative planning and prioritization.
• Identify cross-product/data dependencies and drive alignment across functions.
• Create and maintain user documentation and deliver training/demo sessions.
