Job summary

Viam in New York City is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own a core area of the platform. You will set the roadmap, define how product and engineering decisions are made together, and partner with senior leadership on strategy to help developers adopt Viam and advance hardware-aware software.

You have a software engineering background and a strong PM track record building developer-facing products. You will work with engineering leads on platform architecture and take new capabilities from 0

Qualifications

• Software engineer background and 8+ years in product management.
• Experience building developer-facing APIs, SDKs, or platforms.
• Track record turning ambiguity into production, migrations and deprecations.
• Technical credibility to read code and contribute in design reviews.
• Ability to perform real market research with users in their environment.
• Comfort defining success metrics and using data to guide builds.
• Ability to move quickly with incomplete information and adapt.
• Experience working with senior leadership to set direction.
• Hands-on interest in hardware, IoT or embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for your platform area, from problem definition through launch and adoption.
• Collaborate on product strategy to reduce developer friction and identify bottlenecks.
• Develop a view on hardware-aware AI and robotics implications for software engineers.
• Partner with engineering leads on architecture decisions about core vs. registry vs. SDK.
• Take new capabilities from 0 to 1 through real customer deployments.
• Own the developer experience, including SDK ergonomics, API surface, docs, and onboarding.
• Define success metrics and use data to decide what to build next or retire.
• Incorporate customer learnings and forward-deployed insights into the roadmap.
