Job summary

Tempus is seeking a Product Manager to own the Lens platform layer, focusing on data access, accounts and administration, and the data catalog. You will shape the access model, permissions, and governance in a cloud-based SaaS environment, collaborating with biology, engineering, and data science teams.

You'll translate complex data schemas into product requirements, drive agile development with Jira, and define metrics to measure success.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building software products in tech or biotech.
• Hands-on product management for SaaS products or experience building them as an engineer.
• Ability to read a data schema, reason about a permissions model, and engage in architecture discussions; SQL or Python used regularly.
• Practical experience using generative AI and a point of view on its appropriate use.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across diverse teams (biologists, medical professionals, engineers, operators, data scientists).
• Experience with SQL, Python, or product analytics tools to guide decisions.
• Experience with agile software development teams and tools (JIRA).
• Ability to ramp up quickly on genomics, oncology, and AI concepts.
• Experience with permissions/access control models or data governance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for the Lens platform layer: data access, accounts and administration, the data catalog, and product documentation.
• Serve as the product gate for operational readiness with science and design partners for new capabilities.

• Serve as the direct line of communication with users to maintain an evolving backlog of enhancements.
• Define and analyze metrics to assess product health and impact of new releases.
• Prioritize and manage the product backlog balancing short-term deliverables with long-term initiatives.
• Communicate roadmap and delivery timelines to partners.
• Represent Lens when the platform is built in collaboration with Tempus research and infrastructure teams.
