Job summary

Target is seeking a senior designer to lead Owned Brand product design and development in downtown Minnesota. You will own the full design and development loop, from market research to fabric, trims, graphics, and brand cohesion, with a 4-days-per-week onsite schedule and no remote work.

The role requires 8+ years in sweaters/knits/wovens, a four-year design degree, and strong skills in Illustrator and Photoshop.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or a similar area, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in sweaters, knits, and wovens.
• Computer design system skills including Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Advanced understanding of textiles, garment construction/fit, or raw materials and product production.
• Commercial sense and market knowledge, with ability to research and apply market and trend information.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to succeed in a team environment.
• Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.
• Knowledge of product development processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead Owned Brand Product Design and Development, translating direction into product design strategy and merchant objectives.
• Design product lines for a category, brand, business, or guest segment.
• Own and lead the PD&D Design and Development Processes with clear, timely communication.
• Drive and lead product research and design, forecasting trends across the assigned category.
• Globally shop markets and travel to factories to support development and execution.
• Mentor Associate Designers and Designers, supporting collaboration across the team.
• Drive concepts, color stories, fabrics, prints, trim, and graphics.
• Support brand cohesion by partnering with peers to maintain continuity.
• Produce product designs that align with merchant line plans and price points.
• Collaborate with technical designers and sourcing partners to resolve issues.
