Job summary

Clayco is hiring a Senior Procurement Specialist to lead cost management, procurement execution, and contract stewardship across large-scale projects nationwide. You will own cost tracking, reconcile GMP, and build a solid basis-of-cost file while guiding subcontracting and change management.

Expect field collaboration, enforce WBS-driven bid processes, and travel as needed. We seek an experienced professional who can drive open-book reporting, high-value negotiations, and disciplined risk

Qualifications

• 8+ years in procurement, estimating, or construction management on large-scale projects.
• Direct, hands-on experience with market segment scopes, subcontractors, and outcomes.
• Experience managing subcontracts through full execution and change management.
• Direct experience with cost management including buyout reconciliation and cost-to-complete.
• Negotiation experience at $5M+ per scope and building a basis-of-cost file.
• Strong field presence and constructability experience.
• Proficiency with WBS format, LD language, and flowdown clauses; Excel for bid leveling.
• Travel nationwide; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Own cost tracking from bid through subcontract execution; maintain a live view of committed, awarded, and pending values against the project budget.
• Reconcile subcontract values against GMP; identify variances early for informed decisions.
• Build and maintain the basis-of-cost file for every awarded scope: unit rates, allowances, exclusions, and rationale behind negotiated values.
• Assess cost impact of every change event before routing for approval; distinguish true scope additions from bid gaps.
• Track cost-to-complete across scopes; flag cost trends, overruns, and rebuy risk.
• Support Owner-facing cost reporting with open-book documentation.
• Build and release complete bid packages using WBS; lead leveling, gap analysis, negotiation, and award.
• Ensure Owner LDs flow down to every subcontract scope; assemble executed packages with exhibits and insurance.
• Manage subcontracts through full execution lifecycle; monitor payment applications and certifications.
• Engage field teams; provide constructability input during preconstruction and buyout.
