Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer for a hybrid role at a South Africa facility. You will lead hazard analyses, implement PSM systems, and drive incident investigations while mentoring teams and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Applicants should have 8+ years in process safety within chemical industries, with strong PHA, PSM, and SIL expertise, and professional CSP/CCPSC credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in process safety engineering within chemical/high-hazard industries.
• Strong knowledge of PHA methodologies (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA).
• Experience with Process Safety Management and international standards (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).

Responsibilities

• Lead PHAs such as HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management systems and programs.
• Oversee RCA investigations and corrective action follow-ups.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations (e.g., COMAH where applicable).
• Deliver process safety training for engineers, operators, and management.
• Review designs, P&IDs, and operating procedures for safety implications.
• Manage safety-critical equipment integrity programs including LOP analyses.
• Foster proactive safety culture across the organization.
