Job summary

Stantec’s northeast team seeks a Process Piping Designer with 5+ years of piping design experience. You will generate P&IDs, develop 3D models and create isometric drawings from complex models for diverse industries.

You will work in a 3D CAD environment, integrate 2D and 3D markup in Revit or AutoCAD Plant 3D, and coordinate with trades to deliver integrated building designs. Strong collaboration and travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education from a recognized technical college as an Engineering Technologist or equivalent experience required.
• 5+ years of experience in design of piping systems preferred.
• Experience with 3D CAD environments and Autodesk products (Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D) preferred.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs to develop corresponding piping plans and layouts.
• Strong collaboration skills across disciplines and effective communication with Senior Designers and Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Generate piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and develop 3D models of equipment and piping systems.
• Prepare detailed isometric drawings from 3D models and develop equipment arrangements.
• Develop 3D component families (valves, instruments, pipe fittings, etc.).
• Independently develop 2D or 3D piping plans, models, and arrangements from P&IDs.
• Perform clash detection and coordination reviews with mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines.
• Input component data into databases to develop smart P&ID content and associated lists.
• Create 3D renderings and visualization models to present piping systems to clients and teams.
