Senior Process Engineer - UPW & Water Systems

Job summary

Ecolab in the United States seeks a Process Engineer III to own and execute complex process design for UPW, wastewater, and reclaim water systems, guiding projects from concept through startup and interfacing with customers, A&E firms, contractors, and vendors.

You will lead technical reviews, size equipment, develop mass balances, PFDs and P&IDs, and support proposals and commissioning. Travel may be required; mentoring junior engineers is expected.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of UPW, Wastewater, Reclaim, or Industrial Water Treatment Systems.
• Experience owning designs of large-scale Wastewater and/or UPW systems in a Semiconductor fab.
• Ability to independently develop process calculations, system sizing, and mass balances with limited supervision and senior review.
• Proficiency in 3rd party sizing software (RO, GTM, pumps, Ion Exchange, PIPEFLO).
• Experience preparing and maintaining process deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, process narratives, equipment lists, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant3D is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute process engineering scope for portions of small to medium projects (UPW, Wastewater, Reclaim water).
• Develop and check core deliverables: mass balances, process descriptions, FMEAs, PFDs, P&IDs.
• Perform equipment sizing using vendor tools and software (PipeFlo, WAVE, PHREEQC).
• Review P&IDs, 3D models, and docs for accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinate with automation, mechanical, electrical, and layout teams for integrated designs.
• Lead technical reviews with customers and provide written evaluations.
• Interface with vendors to evaluate equipment options and submittals.
• Support proposals, RFIs, and RFPs with sizing and technical risk evaluation.
• Participate in commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.
• Identify technical risks and drive resolution with leadership.
• Mentor junior process engineers with technical guidance.
