Job summary

U.S. Pipe and Foundry in Bessemer, AL is seeking a Process Engineer to develop and standardize melting, casting, and pipe processing procedures to ensure quality and safety. You will analyze processes, partner with Operations, Quality and Procurement to test new materials, and drive efficiency and cost reductions.

The role emphasizes reducing downtime and scrap through Lean methods. Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering and 5+ years in manufacturing, plus experience with analytical methods

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develops standard work applications and procedures to ensure efficiency and quality.
• Leads the development of standard raw material specifications for QA and procurement.
• Works with finished product samples to ensure they meet internal and external specifications.
• Develop programs to reduce downtime, costs and scrap using Lean tools.
• Improve manufacturing processes to increase quality, performance and profitability.
• Interact with customers and internal teams to troubleshoot issues and assist in resolution.
• Provide plant training, time studies, standard work auditing and troubleshooting.
• Train plant personnel.
