The role requires guiding workforce development, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and partnering with maintenance to optimize equipment and processes. A strong safety mindset and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of supervisory or management experience in heavy manufacturing or construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or manufacturing-related field preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct hourly production employees to meet daily targets with a focus on safety and quality.
• Oversee daily operations, monitor workflows, solve problems, and drive process improvements.
• Provide hands-on mechanical support and maintenance with maintenance teams to optimize equipment.

Job Description:

We are looking to hire a 1stShift Production Supervisor at our Bessemer, AL location. As a Production Supervisor at U.S. Pipe and Foundry, a successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing operations and workforce to meet daily manufacturing goals while ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality operation

Key Responsibilities as a Production Supervisor will include:

• Leadership: Under the direction of the Production Manager, lead and direct the work of hourly production employees to achieve daily production targets while maintaining a high level of safety and quality.
• Production Oversight: Manage daily operations, monitor workflows, problem-solve, and implement process improvements to meet production standards and targets.
• Mechanical Operations: Provide support and hands on maintenance of mechanical equipment/tooling in partnership with maintenance supervisors to optimize equipment and processes. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist with repairs to ensure smooth production.
• Safety and Compliance: Champion safety programs, conduct safety audits and reinforce a culture of workplace safety and accountability ensuring compliance with all safety regulations
• Collaboration: Work closely with operations/plant leadership to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), continuous improvement initiatives, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years previous supervisory or management experience in a heavy fast paced manufacturing and/or construction environment is required. Experience in ductile iron products a plus, foundry experience highly preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical) or Manufacturing and/or related field desired.
• Ability to lead and direct workforce, to achieve a technically competent and highly motivated workforce, ensuring all necessary training and development to promote skill development, quality, safety, and compliance are met.
• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is a plus.
• Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
