Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a Process Engineer 4 to serve as a key technical force on complex engineering projects in the chemical process industry. You will lead early-phase deliverables, perform system evaluations, heat and material balances, P&IDs, and equipment data sheets while supporting detailed design and safe, constructible solutions.

You will collaborate with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, controls, and project management professionals to drive technical excellence,

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Hydraulic Modeling and Pump Sizing with exposure to advanced tools like AFT Fathom.
• Expertise in Heat Transfer principles and design of heat exchangers and process equipment.
• Experience developing design bases for Capital Cost Estimates to aid budgeting and planning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to learn design, analysis, and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineers and designers across multiple projects with high-quality outputs.
• Develop conceptual designs and evaluate alternative solutions for constructability and performance.
• Manage changes to process scope to stay within budgets and schedules.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, construction crews, vendors, and clients to solve problems.
• Plan work, assess staffing, and schedule resources for assigned teams.
