Job summary

Lilly is seeking an API EM Engineer [Synthetic Peptide Synthesis and Purification] to provide technical leadership across CM partners and internal teams. The role focuses on sustaining process knowledge, coordinating tech transfers, and ensuring safe, compliant operations to deliver medicines reliably.

The position emphasizes working with CM resources, applying statistical thinking, and leading incident investigations while aligning with Lilly policies and quality standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering or related field with 5 years chemical manufacturing experience.
• 3+ years of manufacturing/process engineering experience in peptides or small molecules.
• Demonstrated experience in scale-up and/or technology transfer.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Lead scale-up and tech transfer from development through PV and commercial supply.
• Develop and sustain process knowledge, including material and energy balances, kinetics, and equipment design basis.
• Provide process and equipment support; lead RCA and corrective actions for major incidents.
• Drive continuous improvement, identify cost reduction opportunities, and optimize unit operation cycle time and yield.
• Coordinate with CM resources to ensure operational control strategies are executed and validated.
