Basic Purpose of the Position
The individual in this position is responsible for developing and implementing lean manufacturing methodologies by identifying and eliminating waste in production to improve product quality, reduce lead times, and minimize costs. The ability to lead the application of these principles throughout Evapco’s production facilities and provide guidance to employ and maintain their effectiveness is essential.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Work with Evapco personnel (shop and office) to develop a detailed understanding of current processes and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production staff during the design phase of new products to promote design for manufacturing.
- Review shop efficiency and process data, identify improvement areas, present solutions, lead improvement initiatives, and validate results.
- Assist with the development and improvement of standardized documentation for equipment and processes.
- Identify and present opportunities for process optimization and automation.
- Participate in process machinery design review meetings including Machine Risk Assessments.
- Ensure adequate process documentation exists to support equipment commissioning, startup, and production handoff to facilitate employee training.
- Design and optimize manufacturing facility layouts to improve workflow and minimize bottlenecks.
- Work closely with production and maintenance staff to maximize machine uptime by minimizing the impact of maintenance activities and tool changes.
- Support plant safety personnel with safety incident investigations and remediation.
- Ensure part and product quality requirements are documented and understood, and that machine/process outputs conform to these requirements.
- Assist quality personnel with reviewing nonconformity data (internal and external) and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Support product costing initiatives related to fabrication labor and processes.
- Communicate and report study/analysis findings along with supporting details for investment justification/ROI.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of process engineering experience focusing on process improvement utilizing lean manufacturing principles and methods.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional project teams.
- Understanding and experience conducting machinery risk assessments.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including listening and speaking clearly in English.
- Superb technical writing skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence individuals at all levels.
- Exceptional time management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Collaborative approach to thought and action to meet key objectives.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD; 3D modeling experience is a plus.
- Adequate skills with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment with both shop and office presence.
- Intermittent standing, squatting, bending, pulling, and lifting throughout the workday.
- Infrequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Wear PPE when required in manufacturing and construction areas.
- Standard working hours are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility.
- Domestic and international travel are required.
