Consultant - Engineering Specialist | Harba Solutions Indianapolis

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering initiatives aimed at reducing waste, enhancing process capability and reliability, improving quality, increasing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and managing production capacity.
• Develop data collection and performance measurement systems to analyze key metrics and drive improvements in cost, quality, and manufacturing consistency.
• Provide management with updates on innovations or changes that may impact profitability, timelines, costs, customer satisfaction, or interdepartmental coordination.
• Plan and prioritize OEE improvement projects using tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize process performance.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend implementation strategies to enhance operations.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve products or reduce costs through improvements in fabrication methods, tooling, equipment, assembly, and product design.
• Use statistical analysis to determine root causes of failures and suggest design or process modifications.
• Offer technical support and expertise to resolve manufacturing issues and enhance operational efficiency.
• Integrate new methods and technologies into current manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot product issues related to design, materials, or processes.
• Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and completeness.
• Assist in developing training for new or existing processes; coach production teams on best practices.
• Share information on production schedules, capabilities, and requirements to support smooth operations.
• Design, install, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on OEE improvement, process and equipment design, and project management.
• Experience managing projects and leading teams is preferred.
• Background in food-grade manufacturing environments (FDA, GMP, HACCP) and high-speed packaging equipment is a plus.
• Strong computer skills and expertise in process and packaging equipment design and automation (PLC, DCS).
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong track record in project management.
• Proficient in Process Excellence and Six Sigma methodologies (DFSS, DMAIC, DOE, VSM, RCA, FMEA, etc.).
