Job summary
Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston, MA seeks a Senior Scientist to lead process development and engineering studies for a cell-based drug candidate. You will supervise a weekend shift of bioprocess staff, develop robust cell culture processes, and contribute to clinical development programs.

Qualifications
- Experience leading weekend shift teams in bioprocess settings.
- Experience designing and executing DOE with statistical analysis.
- Proven ability to manage pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation.
- Familiarity with GMP requirements for cell therapy programs.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute robust manufacturing processes for cell therapy products.
- Lead weekend shift team to ensure continuity of ongoing studies.
- Train bioprocess associates and engineers in cross-functional work.
- Coordinate resources and set priorities for the team.
- Generate technical reports, regulatory filings and source documents.
- Communicate progress and escalate critical issues affecting timelines.
