Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a lab-based Process Development Engineering Senior Scientific Associate to support process-development studies and expand high-throughput laboratory capabilities. Qualifications

• Mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique required.
• Experience with bench-scale bioreactors, perfusion systems, and high-throughput bioreactors preferred.
• Experience with laboratory automation and process-development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and document process-development studies using bench-scale and high-throughput bioreactor platforms.
• Perform mammalian and stem cell culture activities with aseptic technique.
• Execute equipment setup, media preparation/exchange, perfusion-system operation, sampling, harvest, and cell counting.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot bioreactors, perfusion systems, liquid-handling equipment, and workflow systems.
• Support manual, automated, and semi-automated workflows for liquid handling and data collection.
• Develop and follow standard laboratory procedures to ensure reproducibility.
• Maintain equipment readiness through routine maintenance and consumables management.
• Coordinate study activities with process development, engineering, and analytics teams.
• Identify workflow issues and participate in troubleshooting and escalation.
• Prepare study documentation, data records, and reports; contribute to protocols and analyses.
• Participate in team discussions on experimental design and workflow improvements.
• May participate in weekend work rotations to support operations.
