Job summary

PBF Energy is seeking a Sr. Process Design Engineer to provide process engineering design and project support for multidisciplinary refinery projects, from inception to commissioning.

The role owns the relief valve and flare system programs, including sizing, validation and mitigation planning. Responsibilities include FEED support, PFD/P&ID development, and collaboration with operations, safety and environmental teams to ensure compliant, optimized processes.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years of petrochemical experience with process design.
• Refinery or chemical plant project development experience required.
• Experience using HYSYS or other process design software.
• PSPPM or PSV sizing software experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary reviews and mentor junior engineers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support project engineering requirements and reviews for process design.
• Identify capital and optimization projects aligned with safety and economic goals.
• Own relief valve and flare system programs; sizing and maintenance.
• Develop and optimize PFDs, P&IDs, and heat and material balances.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, reliability, safety and environmental teams.
• Support FEED and detailed engineering phases.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in cross-functional teams.
