Job summary

HF Sinclair is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to join the Midstream Operations Technical Services team in Dallas. You will apply automation and controls engineering to optimize pipeline control systems, truck loading terminals, tank batteries, and related infrastructure, collaborating with operations, maintenance, engineering, IT, and project teams to drive operational excellence.

The role emphasizes work-life balance with planned hours, minimal after-hours support, and no routine on-call

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years in Automation/Controls or Industrial Systems Engineering.
6+ years PLC and HMI programming experience; 2+ years in Midstream Oil & Gas.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize end-to-end system integration across field devices, PLCs, TMS, SCADA, OT, and business systems.
Standardize PLC/HMI applications using templates, reusable code, and best practices.
Maintain and improve control processes and version control.
Lead automation/controls efforts within projects from concept to delivery.
Support risk management, commissioning, lifecycle management, and cross-functional coordination.
Evaluate new technologies to enhance efficiency and maintainability of assets.
Create technical documentation including logic diagrams and wiring drawings.
