Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Process Controls Engineer to maintain control system infrastructure, design control logic, and support production processes. You will work with DCS, PLCs and HMI applications to meet manufacturing goals.

You will collaborate with operations, maintenance and engineering, manage migration plans for legacy platforms, and provide on-call support to troubleshoot field devices and optimize control loops for safer, more reliable operations.

Qualifications

B.S. or higher in Chemical or Electrical Engineering; other technical degrees acceptable with DCS/PLC/HMI experience.
Minimum of two years industrial experience with degree, or 10+ years with non-degree in PLC/HMI applications.
Knowledge of motor controls, instrumentation and control devices.
Windows OS proficiency.
Initiative and strong work ethics for operations progression.
Strong written communication and planning skills.

Responsibilities

Provide design, implementation, and support for Process Control systems (DCS/PLC/HMI) and custom control apps.
Manage system backups, network troubleshooting, and hardware maintenance.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance and engineering in a team environment and be self-motivated.
Ability to communicate clearly and manage project scopes and multiple technical projects.
Be willing to be on-call to support production needs.
