Job summary

Smurfit Westrock seeks an IT/OT Systems Engineer to design, implement and support the IT/OT infrastructure for Process Control Systems including DCS and PLCs. You will help plan capital projects, upgrade paths, and ensure safe, efficient production operations.

The role requires strong VMware, Windows Server, network, and IT/OT integration skills, plus a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving and documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of industrial IT/OT experience preferred; or 10+ years IT in enterprise environments with a two-year degree.
• Ability to quickly research and learn new technologies with strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with VMware vSphere 5.5+ and virtualization solutions.
• Knowledge of network concepts and common protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SSH, NTP, SMTP, TELNET, RDP).
• Experience with Windows services (AD, DNS, DHCP) and storage technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support IT/OT infrastructure for Process Control Systems.
• Plan and coordinate capital project support with engineers and operators.
• Develop short/long-term system upgrade plans and migrations.
• Document IT/OT systems and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Lead troubleshooting and coordinate with IT and Control teams during shutdowns.
