Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Sr. Process Control Engineer to support the Project Engineering Group at our headquarters in Atlanta, GA. The role provides process control leadership for large capital projects, often $5M+ in spend, and collaborates with GP operational support partners to meet long-term remote support goals.

Position is home-based within the US with travel up to 75%, enabling engagement across the country and with mills for capital project execution and run-ability improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Automation or Process Control.
• Experience with DCS systems.
• Experience leading automation projects.
• Knowledge of design, construction, operation, and maintenance of continuous manufacturing.
• Able and willing to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Provide Process Control guidance for large capital projects.
• Participate in development or selection of standard control technologies.
• Provide technical support for scope development of capital projects.
• Act as the Project Discipline Lead (PDL); provide leadership as lead engineer.
• Develop/review scopes, estimates, and schedules for electrical portions of projects.
• Develop conceptual and detailed engineering and design.
• Participate in bid evaluation and selection.
• Project field engineering, including construction, startup, and commissioning support.
• Train operators, supervision, and process control personnel.
• Provide leadership for external/internal engineering resources to drive projects.
• Provide personal development guidance to Process Control Engineering personnel.
• GUIDE instrument specifications and control valves selection.
• Lead or participate in check-out and start-up of new/modified control systems.
• Provide forced outage and maintenance outage support.
