Job summary

OxyChem is seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to support the Deer Park VCM site's DCS/PLC network. You will lead design, programming, and troubleshooting efforts, working on protection of people and the environment while improving process safety and reliability.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering with 5–20 years of DCS experience, knowledge of Honeywell Experion or similar systems, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 5–20 years of DCS design, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance experience.
• Honeywell Experion/TDC3000 DCS experience, Triconex PLC experience, Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.
• Proficient written and verbal skills. Ability to read, write and speak in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to respond to off hour emergencies.
• Good working knowledge of SAP.

Responsibilities

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and communities, as a top priority.
• Provide technical guidance on the operation and optimization of the Deer Park VCM site’s Distributed Control System (DCS).
• Provide expertise with DCS controls/instrumentation and prepare scope, estimates, and schedules for control system projects.
• Coordinate control and instrument tasks for successful project completion.
• Assist with configuration, installation, and maintenance of electronic microprocessor-based instrument control systems including DCS/SIS, PLCs, serial interfaces, and historians.
• Manage standalone instrumentation and control projects.
• Develop programming documentation for process hazard reviews and other hazard analysis methods.
• Provide recommendations on up-to-date control systems and cost-effective technologies.
• Support DCS operations and performance with troubleshooting and development of improvement programs.
• Define spare parts and preventive maintenance requirements for DCS components.
