Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead a team of automation developers and set technical direction for enterprise-grade workflows. You will review designs and PRs, design, build, test, and support automated business workflows on Appian or successor platforms, and ensure solutions meet security and resilience standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, automation, or solution delivery.
• Experience building and shipping production systems.
• Experience leading engineering or automation teams.
• Regularly write or review code.
• Experience building workflow automation on low-code platforms (Appian, Pega, Camunda).
• Experience integrating workflow automation platforms with surrounding systems; solid APIs, integration patterns, testing, and SDLC.
• Experience improving processes with demonstrable results.
• Experience working in a regulated environment.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a group of automation developers.
• Set technical direction and engineering standards.
• Review designs, code, and pull requests.
• Design, build, test, and support automated business workflows in Appian or successor platforms.
• Identify manual, high-friction workflows with business architecture and business units.
• Translate process designs into production software.
• Own requirements through deployment and support.
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise standards for security, resilience, controls, and maintainability.
• Build integrations between the orchestration platform and surrounding systems.
• Evaluate and pilot AI and agentic automation tools.
• Define delivery controls for a regulated firm.
• Collaborate across product, platform, service, and delivery teams to build consensus.
