Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a software engineer to design, build, test, and support automated business workflows using low-code platforms like Appian. You will partner with business architecture, units, and technology teams to translate process designs into production-ready software.

You will own requirements through deployment, ensure security and resilience, build integrations, write tests, and monitor production solutions while adhering to delivery controls and SDLC standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, process automation, or solution delivery.
• Experience building and shipping production systems.
• Regularly write and review code.
• Experience building workflow automation on a low-code or orchestration platform such as Appian, Pega, or Camunda.
• Experience integrating workflow automation platforms with surrounding systems.
• Solid fundamentals in APIs, integration patterns, testing, and SDLC.
• Experience improving a process and articulating specific outcomes.
• Experience in a regulated environment, or understanding of controls and delivery in a matrixed organization.
• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and support automated business workflows in Appian or a successor platform.
• Work with business architecture, business units, and technology teams to turn process designs into software.
• Challenge process designs that will not work with real systems.
• Own requirements through deployment and production support.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet enterprise standards for security, resilience, controls, and maintainability.
• Build integrations between the orchestration platform and surrounding systems.
• Write tests, fix defects, and monitor production solutions.
• Instrument processes so operations can identify bottlenecks before users report issues.
• Pilot AI and agentic automation tools and share learnings.
• Collaborate across cross-functional pods with product owners, platform engineers, and service teams.
• Follow and improve delivery controls and engineering standards.
