Job summary

StepStone Group is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to drive ownership across private equity investments, including co-investments and primary funds. You will work across sourcing, due diligence, underwriting, and execution, leveraging a global network to evaluate opportunities and present clear recommendations.

The role emphasizes independent thinking, portfolio-level perspective, and collaboration in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. CFA or MBA credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• 2-4+ years of private equity experience or related investments.
• Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills.
• Ability to structure analysis, identify key diligence questions, and work deals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to Investment Committee.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of sourcing, screening, due diligence, underwriting and execution of private equity co-investments and primary fund investments.
• Evaluate buyout co-investments and primary fund opportunities across managers, strategies and regions.
• Assess managers and funds including investment strategy, track record and terms.
• Lead due diligence process with fund managers, management teams and advisors; move opportunities toward a decision.
• Develop independent investment perspectives and present recommendations to the team and Investment Committee.
• Coordinate transaction execution, closing and structuring; monitor investments and relationships.
