Anthropic is seeking a Privacy Counsel to join our Legal team. You will advise on privacy and data protection in a global context, shaping guidance across product, research, and partnerships. The role intersects with safety, security, policy, and engineering to build scalable privacy programs.

You will lead on DPAs, BAAs, and data-sharing agreements while navigating complex regulatory regimes. This position combines legal analysis with practical risk mitigation in a fast-moving AI environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active state bar membership.
• Experience advising a technology business on privacy and data protection.
• Experience drafting and negotiating DPAs, BAAs and data sharing agreements.
• Knowledge of global privacy laws (Americas, EEA, APAC).
• Ability to read and engage with technical architecture documents.
• Strong legal writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Counsel product, research and engineering teams across lifecycles with privacy guidance.
• Translate complex architecture into actionable risk advice.
• Deliver guidance on safety, security and data protection.
• Lead privacy on strategic deals and partnerships with cross-functional teams.
• Negotiate privacy and data protection terms in enterprise and platform agreements.
• Lead privacy diligence on mergers and acquisitions and support governance.
• Collaborate with privacy colleagues to unify positions.
