Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Mesa, AZ is seeking an experienced Principal (level 3) or Senior Principal (level 4) Technical Editor and Writer to support the Armament Systems business site. The role involves preparing and editing technical manuals, procedures, and specifications using XML, and collaborating with product developers to ensure accuracy and clarity.

The position requires strong knowledge of DoD practices and standards (MIL-STD-40051, S1000D) and the ability to read complex engineering

Qualifications

• Experience developing, writing and illustrating mechanical and electrical procedures for field service technical manuals.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications and system descriptions.
• Knowledge of DoD practices and MIL-STD standards; able to perform complex professional tasks.
• Familiarity with standards for tech manuals (MIL-STD-40051, S1000D).
• Strong communication and technical editing skills across multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Writes, rewrites and edits technical documents to communicate clearly using XML.
• Interviews product developers and reviews blueprints, specs and illustrations.
• Oversees preparation of illustrations and quality reviews of materials.
• Contributes to the maintenance of technical manuals and procedure documents.
