Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Mesa, AZ, seeks an experienced Principal or Sr. Principal Technical Editor and Writer to craft and edit technical manuals, user guides, and specifications for DoD programs.

You will extract knowledge from product developers, inspect drawings, and coordinate illustrations to ensure accuracy and clarity. This role requires reading complex engineering documents, applying MIL-STD and S1000D standards, and mentoring junior editors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree & 5+ years of related technical editor/writer experience, OR a master's degree & 3+ years of technical editor experience, OR a high school diploma & 9 years of related technical editor/writer experience.
• Experience developing, writing and illustrating mechanical and electrical procedures for field service manuals.
• Knowledge of DoD industry practices (TO 00-5-1, MIL-STD-38784, MIL-STD-3048, MIL-STD-1808).

Responsibilities

• Writes, rewrites and edits technical documents such as manuals, user/manuals and service guides to communicate clearly using XML.
• Interviews product developers, observes production methods and refers to specifications to acquire knowledge.
• Oversees preparation of illustrations, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts; conducts quality reviews.
