Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer in Roy, Utah to work a restricted effort within the flight systems futures operating unit.

The role focuses on advancing payloads and hypersonic re-entry vehicle technologies, leveraging MBSE and model-based testing to meet DoD standards. Responsibilities include defining system architecture,驗驗 requirements traceability, ICD creation, and leading cross-functional design reviews while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems, Software, or related STEM with 8+ years of experience.
• US Citizen with a current/active US Government Top Secret clearance.
• Must be able to be screened for Enhanced Security Clearances within a reasonable time.
• 3+ years full lifecycle MBSE work using SysML-based tools (IBM Rhapsody, Cameo, SysML v2).
• 3+ years experience writing, managing, and tracing complex requirements (DOORS, Jama, Polarion) and creating ICDs.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to present to senior leadership and customers.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the definition and evolution of system architecture using MBSE tools (e.g., IBM Rhapsody, Cameo Systems Modeler).
• Generate, allocate, and trace requirements across the system hierarchy; develop verification methodologies.
• Author requirement sets and ICDs defining internal and external interfaces clearly.
• Create and coordinate customer deliverables (technical reports, trade studies, compliance matrices) for reviews.
• Participate in lab demonstrations and hardware-in-the-loop testing to validate system behavior against requirements.
• Lead cross functional reviews and ensure compliance with engineering processes (CMMI, DO178C, MISRA C, NQA1).
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in requirements management, verification planning, and MBSE modeling.
